The desktop edition is activated with a licence from Qalamora. The licence decides the modules and limits your school has and until when it is valid.
Activation
When the desktop edition is installed, it is activated online once with your licence ID and a one-time activation code from Qalamora. The licence is tied to that server computer. Keep the code private; it works only once.
Check the licence
- Sign in as the school owner and open Settings > Licence. Only the owner can see this page.
- Read the status. Active, Expired, in grace period, Read-only, No licence installed or Licence not valid.
- Check the dates. Valid until with days left, the Offline allowance (days left without an online check), Last online check and Next automatic check.
- Click Check now after you renew, after the computer was offline for a long time, or when the page asks you to.
Online checks
When the server computer is online, the licence is checked automatically every few days. If it cannot reach Qalamora, the school keeps working until the offline allowance runs out, so a few days without internet are no problem. Connect the server to the internet now and then and click Check now.
Read-only mode
The school becomes read-only when the licence has expired past its grace days, when no online check succeeded within the offline allowance, or when the licence is not valid for this computer. While read-only you can still sign in, view, print and export your records. Renew the licence or connect to the internet and click Check now to work normally again.
Important
Keep the server computer's date and time correct. If the clock is set back, the page says "The computer clock looks wrong" and the school becomes read-only until you set the correct date and time in Windows and check again.
