On this page
A teacher, an accountant and the front desk each need different things first. On Settings > Dashboard and menu the school owner chooses, for each role, which cards appear on the dashboard, in what order, and which sections show in the side menu.
Before you start
Hiding something here is only about what people see first. It does not remove access. A permission still decides what a role can open and do; to take access away, change the role in Administration > Roles.
Steps
- Open the page. Go to Settings > Customize and click Dashboard and menu.
- Choose the role. Pick a role in Role, for example Teacher or Accountant.
- Pick the dashboard cards. Under Dashboard cards, tick the cards to show, such as Students overview, Staff overview, Logins overview, Academic overview or Recent activity. Switched-on modules can add more cards.
- Set the order. Use the up and down arrows beside each card. The first card appears at the top of the dashboard.
- Choose the menu sections. Under Menu sections, untick a section to hide it from the side menu of this role. Sections include Students, Front office, Academics, Fees, Accounts, Messages, Staff and Campus.
- Save. Click Save. Repeat for the next role.
People with that role see the new layout the next time their dashboard loads.
Personal layout
Each person can still change the look of their own screens in Settings > Appearance: accent colour, sidebar style, spacing and the order of their own dashboard sections. Personal changes apply only on that browser. Clicking Use school defaults brings back the school's layout.
Tip
For the front desk, hide Accounts and Staff from the menu. A shorter menu means fewer wrong clicks at a busy counter.
